May 2011 AGM PAC Report:
The municipal election was the first issue dealt with this year by the PAC. Through surveying and more direct communication, we were able to build a municipal election resource that covered the basic platforms of many of the trustee candidates for this region. The hard work done by committee members contributed to what we view as some positive change in the make up of our elected trustees. The majority of the remaining work this year has been focused on the preparation for the upcoming provincial election. This includes the development of a member volunteer survey to connect people to the political party of their choice, the planning of events and lobby efforts earlier in the year. The committee has also started collecting articles from its members to inform our members and promote discussion of political issues. Finally, the upcoming Political Action conference at the end of the month with provide our committee members with enhanced training and resources to face the upcoming election.
